How to host a murder mystery dinner
A murder mystery dinner is one of the most memorable nights you can host. Here's how to plan one without stress.
1. Choose your story
Pick a setting your friends will enjoy, a 1920s ball, a cruise ship, an office party. The story should have a character for every guest, so nobody just watches.
2. Invite early, explain little
Send invites with each guest's character and a dress-code hint. Keep the plot a secret, that's half the fun.
3. Plan the menu around the rounds
Each course is a natural round: new clues arrive, people question each other, then the next dish comes out. Keep cooking simple so you're at the table, not in the kitchen.
4. Let the host play too
Traditional boxed games make the host the game master. With Murder MyStory the host gets a character and never sees the solution.
5. Run the reveal
After the last course everyone makes an accusation. Then reveal what really happened, and give the best detective a prize.
Your story can be ready in 5 minutes.
